State of Texas Data Center Consolidation ProjectPrecision Task Group (PTG) partnered with IBM and Unisys for the $863 Million State of Texas Data Center Consolidation Project. The Project scope includes consolidation of 31 data centers across the State of Texas into primary and secondary data centers for 27 state agencies. PTG currently supports a broad range of data center services including asset management, Level II and III Help Desk support, network management and monitoring, performance and capacity planning, database administration, server administration, disaster recovery planning, change management, SAN storage administration, facility operations, and data tape library administration through a team of over 120 multi-disciplined personnel. During project initiation, PTG was successful with on-boarding over 60 new employees within a 60 day period. PTG’s ISO 9001:2008 certified Quality Management System provides the PTG team with the necessary processes and procedures for the ongoing successful management of this large scale initiative.
United States Air Force Software License ManagementThe United States Air Force established the Software Enterprise Acquisition Management and Lifecycle Support (SEAMLS) office to act as the primary interface with all Air Force customers for software licensing and services. This office manages the Microsoft Enterprise Licensing and Service Agreements, the Air Force-wide Oracle Contracts and the DoD Enterprise Software Initiative (ESI).
Through our management of the SEAMLS Project, PTG currently provides IT asset management (ITAM) solutions in the areas of Software License Management, Detailed Reporting, Policy and Procedure Compliance, Financial Management, and Requirements Management for the United States Air Force. Under the SEAMLS contract, PTG provides Software License Reconciliation and Software License Management for Microsoft and Oracle products provided to 800,000+ Air Force users geographically dispersed throughout the United States and around the world.
As a part of this program, PTG provides user helpdesk support, approval of My Oracle Support user applications and development and dissemination of informational documents to users in the field. SEAMLS streamlines every aspect of software licensing and management, allowing the Air Force to more effectively monitor and manage desktop and server software assets while providing the information needed to be compliant. The PTG SEAMLS License Management team collects, analyzes and delivers critical IT asset information to help accurately understand and rigorously manage software licenses. PTG provides the knowledge necessary to significantly reduce unnecessary support cost and negate inappropriate software usage, reconcile acquired licenses with software actually installed, reuse and reallocate software licenses within the organization and maximize ROI through accurate and timely asset inventory.
The SEAMLS program has generated over $98 million in cost avoidance savings for the U.S. Air Force.
IT Outsourcing, MFR, PC., Houston, TexasPTG currently provides full outsourcing support for all IT operations for MFR, an accounting/professional services firm with offices in four cities. PTG's services include IT governance support, ongoing CIO services, management of all servers, network devices, security hardware and software and end user computers. PTG uses an automated IT service management tool set to provide 24x7 support and monitoring of IT operations. Monthly service level and IT operations reporting are provided as part of the quality management process. As part of this contract, PTG also provides project-based support for defined IT initiatives. Baseline outsourcing services are provided on a fixed price basis with defined service levels.
IT Cost Assessment, Privately-held Automobile Importer, Houston, TexasA large, privately-held automotive importer asked PTG to perform an overall assessment of the IT Technical Services organization. The goal was to analyze the operational effectiveness and identify potential cost improvement areas. The engagement included a review of the current chargeback structure and a sourcing analysis of inhouse vs outsourced service delivery models.
Houston Community College System Help Desk AnalysisPTG was engaged by Houston Community College System (HCCS) to perform an assessment of the current Help Desk services provided to the Students/Faculty/Staff of the system. The purpose of this review was to evaluate the service levels and make recommendations on the improvements necessary to reduce the call abandon rate and achieve a higher level of service for the HCCS customers.
PTG benchmarked the current operational performance against standard industry practices and metrics and completed a high level fit/gap assessment of current help desk technology. Recommendations were provided on the organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, staffing levels, operational practices and metrics, and required technology capabilities. A multi-year roadmap was provided which outlined the recommended process, technology and organizational improvements based on overall priority and customer service impact.
United States Air Force Directory Services ProjectBooz Allen partnered with the Air Force Directory Service to synchronize identity data for more than 800,000 users and 11 Major Commands to provide a single identity repository and global address list services. These solutions provide the US Air Force the tools and strategy necessary to securely and efficiently manage the identities of its users across a vast enterprise.
As part of the Booz Allen team, PTG provides project control and support on this high enterprise-wide program on-site at Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex. Our team provides a full range of project control support, including the development, update and maintenance of project schedules and key performance metrics. Other project coordination activities include project schedule performance and financial forecasts, status reporting, document management, ongoing communications management, activity tracking, and quality assurance of project deliverables.
Service Desk Assessment, SunGard Higher Education, Houston, TexasPTG conducted an assessment of the SunGard Help Desk Services provided to Lone Star College. The assessment included the Incident and Problem Management Processes, Monthly Operational Reports and Metrics as well as the contractual terms and cost structure. PTG provided an analysis of the current and proposed contract costs versus industry standard costs and insourced options. Recommendations were made for the retention and use of the existing ServiceNow platform.
Shell Oil Products Tax System UpgradeWhen Shell implemented the Technical Upgrade of the SABRIX (US-related) TAX application module for Global SAP; they turned to PTG for support. Our Project Managers successfully lead and managed not only this project but several within the Shell Lubricants division. PTG’s team was additionally responsible for the implementation of a new business operating model for Fast Lube Franchise operations (Jiffy Lube).
M.D. Anderson Electronic Medical Records System Deployment The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) in Houston, Texas, celebrating six decades of Making Cancer History™, is one of the world’s most respected institutions devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention. ClinicStation is the institution’s proprietary CCHIT certified Electronic Medical Record software. ClinicStation currently integrates more than 65 systems, a combination of commercial and internally developed applications. The institution placed great strategic focus on ClinicStation deeming it the primary application required to support routine clinical operations. Relevant features include a complete allergy record, a medication list and reconciliation function and complete access to pharmacy records.
Under our partnership with Avanade, PTG trained and supported the MD Anderson user community on Clinic Station deployment over a 60 day period.
Centerpoint Advanced Meter Systems Development SupportCenterPoint Energy Inc. was dealing with an aging workforce, new sets of Advanced Meter System (AMS) rules, rising customer expectations and intolerance with outages. CenterPoint needed to deploy a robust solution that would enable automated reading capabilities at the meter level to reduce the need for physical meter readers.
CenterPoint Energy engaged IBM to provide a vigorous end-to-end smart meter deployment solution. The IBM team designed and implemented an Advanced Meter System (AMS) solution that reads meters every 15 minutes, as opposed to once a month, analyzing data in real time. While data flows to the same places, it comes more quickly and accurately. The solution complies with the Texas Public Utility Commission's advanced meter regulations.
As an IBM partner, PTG provides testing support within the Tivoli suite of products.
Shell Chemical External Scheduling System SupportPrecision Task Group provided Project Management for Shell Chemical’s implementation of the External Scheduling Tool on the GAME project at their manufacturing locations in the US, Canada, and Singapore. PTG worked to ensure software integration and utilized an SAP/Impress/Primavera P3e implementation thus guarantying Shell Chemical’s project success.
PTG worked diligently to fully assess the scope and scale of work and define a detailed plan for the actual cleansing efforts. The project focused on analyzing, cleaning and developing the translation of Shell's Lubes Master Reference Data into GSAP.
Marathon Oil Corporation SAP Global Implementation and SupportThrough our partnership with SAIC, PTG provided resources to Marathon’s SAP Security Administration. Our team created and maintained SAP Security roles and PD profiles, adhered to the defined policies and procedures and maintained Sox compliance as well as support process improvement and audit efforts and were first-responders to Remedy Service Requests. Our team also provided expertise with SAP EBP (Enterprise Buyer Professional), SAP MM (Materials Management), SAP OLM (Offshore Logistics Management), and SAP 4.6C. Additionally PTG offered expertise in the design, development, unit testing and integration testing support of reports and enhancements using General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable & Receivable.
